Professional Experience

Cypher Street Ltd - Web Development & Systems Architecture Sep 2024 – May 2026
Owner/Managing Director
  • Worked independently through Cypher Street as a web developer and AI business systems architect, delivering practical digital and automation solutions while remaining financially self-sufficient, managing family care responsibilities, and completing AAT Level 2 and Level 3 Accounting at Distinction. Managed client work, project scheduling, technical development, and business administration independently.
IT Manager and Systems Administrator 2011 – Aug 2024
B2B Lead Generation and Marketing Agency - Greece, Spain, Portugal, Bulgaria
  • Joined in an admin capacity and progressed to shared day-to-day ownership of all IT infrastructure alongside the IT Director, taking practical operational lead for systems, procurement and support across a 60-person international business.
  • Implemented standardised Windows deployment images for new-starter setup, reducing laptop provisioning time from approximately 2–3 hours to around 15 minutes per device, covering VoIP, CRM and remote access configuration.
  • Analysed VoIP and CRM data to identify that calls to certain countries were generating significantly higher costs with lower ROI than other markets. Escalated findings to the Sales Director; changes were implemented that reduced telecoms spend by approximately 20% and increased sales output by around 10% within three months.
  • Implemented VLAN separation between the sales floor and admin/IT machines. When the business was subsequently hit by ransomware, damage was contained to admin/IT laptops. Combined with a structured weekly backup routine covering cloud, local and external storage that replaced a previously ad hoc process, core CRM and customer data was fully preserved. Recovery was completed with no loss of actual lead or sales records; only 3–4 days of lead status notes were affected.
  • Contributed to the migration of the entire business from paper-based lead management and manual spreadsheets to a customised vTiger CRM. Supported build and testing with external developers, then led all staff training and rollout across 50–60 employees in multiple countries.
  • Proactively maintained a VoIP credit reserve in a parent escrow account to cover international offices during periods of cash flow pressure, preventing call outages without requiring escalation.
  • Took full responsibility for IT onboarding for every new hire: hardware provisioning, account creation, CRM and VoIP access, remote monitoring setup and one-to-one training on all business systems.
  • Set up office infrastructure from scratch across multiple international locations, including physical networking, Cisco hardware, VoIP systems, laptops and software; provided ongoing remote support as issues arose post-setup.
  • Managed recurring security incidents including monthly phishing and malware events, resolving each through cPanel-level virus scanning, isolation and removal with no significant business disruption.
  • Administered I.T. management across all sites, vTiger CRM, Net2Phone VoIP, cPanel hosting environments, WordPress sites and Linux workstations.
  • On acquisition of the business, led knowledge transfer to the incoming technical team, training them across all systems, data architecture and operational workflows.
Owner and Managing Director 2004 – 2009
Horspools - Independent Coffee Shop Group (5 sites) - Nottingham
  • Bought first coffee shop at 20 and expanded to five sites within three months, funded through a bank loan and personal capital.
  • Directed a five-site operation employing 25-30 staff, setting strategy and commercial direction while a General Manager and store managers ran day-to-day operations at each site.
  • Held full P&L ownership: cash flow, supplier relationships, food hygiene compliance and stock control across the group. Payroll never missed a single date across six years.
  • In 2009, a government-mandated external risk assessment of the lender's loan book flagged my age and limited business history, resulting in loan recall. The business was profitable and trading well at the time of sale.
Sales and Administration Executive 2001 – 2003
LogistR/x - Pharmaceutical Wholesaler - Nottingham
  • Handled sales correspondence, order processing and general administration in a regulated environment. Established habits around data accuracy and professional communication that have carried through every subsequent role.
